First Year of Formal Schooling
Although not mandatory, many families opt to begin formal schooling at 2 years of age. This is not only to ensure your child has the school-readiness skills to attend classes, but also to build a foundation for literacy and numeracy skills. This is also a great time to begin bilingual learning, since children learn languages best at this age.
Your child may throw tantrums when they feel big emotions, but will also develop self-regulation strategies to calm down.
In this year, your child will master the basics of literacy in their native language, such as learning the alphabet or basic characters.
Your child will learn how to truly count from 1 to 20, without simply memorizing the sequence of numbers.
Your child will learn the names of basic colors and shapes, and be able to sort and match them.
