12 to 18 months
A Time for ‘Firsts’
In these few months, your child will likely take their first steps, say their first words, scribble their first artworks, sprout their first teeth, and more! With increased mobility, they will also be more independent and confident as they explore further. They will also begin to understand how their actions have an effect on their environment.
Your child will begin to show signs of separation anxiety when you are away.
Your child will mix words, gibberish, gesturing, and pointing to attempt to communicate with others.
Towards 16 to 18 months, your child will engage in more social play with familiar adults.
Your child will begin to demonstrate memory of people, places, and daily routines.
